Armstrong is currently Executive Committee member responsible for Research, Development, and Innovation (RD&I). He succeeds Bob Margevich, who has chosen to go into retirement. |

Case study on use of Rediset LQ-1106

Better Roads Magazine featured in its August issue a case study on a 4.7-mile stretch of County Road F in Wisconsin, USA partly paved with warm mix and partly with hot mix using AkzoNobels warm-mix product Rediset LQ-1106. The contractor Northeast Asphalt released an official report of the results on the project and reported several advantages for warm mix using the AkzoNobel Rediset additive including average burner fuel savings of 10 to 12 percent, compaction possible at lower temperatures and a potential to extend haul distances beyond what is possible with hot mix. |

AkzoNobel Surface Chemistry has provided its new Rediset® LQ liquid asphalt warm-mix additive to help pave new taxiways at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. The taxiways are an integral part of the O’Hare Modernization Program (OMP), one of the largest infrastructure rehabilitation and construction projects in the United States at one of the world’s largest and busiest airports. Five new taxiways are being paved with multiple layers of warm-mix asphalt containing AkzoNobel’s Rediset LQ additive. |

AkzoNobel completes acquisition of Chinese surfactants producer

AkzoNobel announced today it has completed its acquisition of China’s leading specialty surfactant producer, Boxing Oleochemicals, which will be integrated into AkzoNobel’s Surface Chemistry business unit. This acquisition quickly positions AkzoNobel to respond to the increasing demand for amines and derivatives, with a third of the Asian demand coming from China alone. The integration of Boxing’s activities and further synergies with AkzoNobel will definitely boost the introduction of new products to local mid-tier markets and ultimately the progress of local customer. |
